Winter Charms Christmas Ornaments

Sprinkle a bit of Jack Frost thoughout the house. These charms started as ornaments, but changed as they stayed around the house and started to get lost. By putting them on a glass front cabinet the inspiration for them to become window charms overpowered the ornament usage. Easy, quick and fun, you can make dozens and spread them around the house.
Janome Supplies Required:
- Memory Craft 10001, 10000, 9500, or 300E (embroidery only)
- PC Design Card #1014 (Christmas Collection II)
- Standard Hoop A
- Embroidery Foot P
- Satin Stitch Foot F
- Janome Metallic thread - #M003 (Gold)
- Janome Embroidery thread - #239 (Sunflower)
- Circular Sewing Attachment
- Blue Tip needle 75/11
Fabric and Notions Required:
- 8" x 18" White Sparkle Organza
- Water soluble stabilizer (We recommend Janome Water soluble stabilizers
- Aleene's Stop FrayingÆ or Aleene's Tack-It Over & OverÆ
Instructions:
- Fold the organza in half (8" x 9"). Sandwich the organza between two layers of water soluble stabilizer. Insert into Embroidery Hoop A. Place the hoop on the carriage.
- Set up the Memory Craft for Professional Style Embroidery. Insert a Blue Tip needle. Place metallic thread in the needle and Janome Embroidery thread #239 in the bobbin
- Insert PC Design Card #1014 into the PC slot. Select one of the snowflakes - #18, #19 or #20.
- Stitch out a snowflake. Remove the hoop from the carriage and the design from the hoop.
- Set up the Memory Craft for Ordinary Sewing. Snap on Satin Stitch Foot F. Attach the Circular Sewing Attachment following manufacturer's instructions.

Inside Information:
Valora used several different decorative stitches to complete her Winter Charms. Some of her favorites on the Memory Craft 10001 are:
- Stitch #56 ((Decorative)
- Stitch #40 (Decorative) - adjust the stitch width to 4.0 and stitch length to .30
- Stitch #96 (Hemstitch) - adjust the stitch width to 5.0 and stitch length .20
- Stitch #200 (Decorative) - adjust the stitch width to 5.0 and stitch length .30
- Valora suggests "curvy" designs work better than "angular" designs.

- Center the design on the pin of the Circular Sewing Attachment. Set the attachment to the desired circle size.
- Using a decorative stitch sew around the snowflake.
- Remove the stabilizer according to manufacturer's instructions.
- When dry, trim excess organza close to the decorative stitching.
- Apply Stop Fraying or Tac It Over & Over on the wrong side of the Winter Charm over the decorative stitching following manufacturer's instructions. Let dry, then apply wherever you want a kiss of a snowflake.
