Make these Tea Party Placemats for the little girl in your life that loves to play house. She can have a tea party with her friends or dollies with these washable fun placemats.
They are so easy to make and take very little time to construct.

It's a terrific way to use up those leftover scraps from your last quilt project.
Janome Supplies Required:
- Any Janome machine
- 1/4 Foot O
- Custom Crafted Foot F2
- Rotary Even Foot
- Blue Tip needle 75/11
Fabric and Notions Required:
- Assorted scraps
- 14" x 17" batting
- 14" x 17" backing
- 55" length binding
- All purpose thread
- Transparent thread
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
- Ruler
- Rotary cutter
Rotary cutter:
Cutting instructions are for one placemat.
- Following the diagram for the house provided above cut pieces 1 - 12.
Hint:The door and window pieces should be fussy cut from a print design fabric of cats, dogs, or people etc. You may want to number your pieces.
- Cut one 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip for piece #1 (door).
- Cut four 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" strips for pieces #2, #3, #4 (window) and #5.
- Cut four 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strips for pieces #6, #7, #8 and #9.
- Cut one 5" squares for piece #10. Cut in half diagonally.
- Cut one 5" square from template plastic. Cut in half diagonally. Reposition plastic triangles according to diagram.
- Cut piece #11 and #12 as one section using template.
- Cut two 2 1/2" x width of fabric strips from the border fabric.
- Cut strips into the following lengths:
- One 13" strip.
- One 9" strip.
- One 8 3/4" strip.
- One 10" strip.
- One 8" strip.
- One 11" strip.
Instructions:
- Set up the Memory Craft for ordinary sewing.
- Attach the 1/4" Foot O
- Select a Straight stitch. Adjust the length to 1.8.
- Sew piece #1 (door) to piece #2, right sides together.
- Sew piece #4 (window) to piece #3.
- Sew piece #4/#3 to piece #5.
- Sew piece #6 to piece #1/#2.
- Sew piece #1/#2/#6 to piece #7.
- Continue adding sections across until the base of the house is completed.
- Sew piece #10 to piece #11/#12.
- Sew the roof to the base of the house.
- Sew the 13" border strip to the base of the house. Trim as needed. Press.
- Sew the 9" border strip to piece #6.
Note: You will be adding strips in a clockwise direction using the log cabin method.
- Sew the 8 3/4" border strip to piece #10.
- Sew the 10" border strip to the top of the roof (#11).
- Sew the 8" border strip to piece #12.
- Sew the 11" border strip to piece #9.
- Layer the house on top of the batting. Secure with pins and/or spray adhesive.
- Attach the Custom Crafted Foot F2.
- Select a decorative stitch.
- Set the Pressure Dial to 2.
- Stitch around the door and the top of the window.
Note: This will stabilize the house to the batting and help to prevent puckers.
- Place the back underneath the batting, wrong side up.
- Attach the Rotary Even foot.
- Thread the needle with transparent thread.
- Select a Straight stitch. Adjust the length to 2.8.
- Stitch in the ditch around the perimeter of the house.
- Trim batting and backing.
- Apply binding to finish.
