Level: Beginner - Intermediate

Combining designs from a Memory Card or PC Design Card offer limitless creativity for any project. Sheryl used Memory Card #112 (Farm Designs) to create this very adorable "Old MacDonald Had A Farm" dress.

Memory Craft 10000 owners can make use of the versatile Edit screen or combine designs using Janome software. Memory Craft 9000, 5700 or 5000 owners can use Customizer 2000 to create the monogramming. Using the powerful Clothsetter is key to combining designs for any Memory Craft owner.

Janome Supplies Required:

  • Memory Craft 10000, 9000, 5700, or 5000
  • Card Reader 10000 (MC10000 only)
  • Memory Card #112 (Farm Designs)
  • Clothsetter 10000 or other model
  • Embroidery Hoop
  • Embroidery foot P
  • Janome Embroidery thread
  • Janome Bobbin thread
  • Janome Universal needle #14
  • Blue Tip needle 75/11

Fabric and Notions Required:

  • Purchased dress or make a dress from your favorite pattern
  • Adhesive back stabilizer
  • Water soluble stabilizer

Professional-Style Embroidery
MC10000

  1. Set up the Memory Craft 10000 for Professional-Style Embroidery.
  2. Connect the Card Reader 10000 to the Memory Craft 10000.
  3. Insert Memory Card #112 (Farm Designs) into the Card Reader 10000.
  4. Press the Embroidery Mode key.
  5. Press the Edit tab.
  6. Press the Monogram tab.
  7. Press the Font key. Select Gothic Font. Press OK.
  8. Press the Size key. Select Medium (M).
  9. Press the Horizontal/Vertical Orientation key to select vertical.
  10. Press the Upper/Lower Case key to select upper case.
  11. Type"O".
  12. Press the Upper/Lower Case key to select lower case.
  13. Type "ld".
  14. Press the Number/Punctuation key to select the small space.
  15. Press the "A-Z" key to return to the letter selection window. Press OK.
  16. Position to the right on the Edit screen.
  17. Press the Monogram tab.
  18. Type "had".
  19. Press the Number/Punctuation key to select the small space.
  20. Type "a".
  21. Press the Number/Punctuation key to select the small space.
  22. Type "farm". Press OK.
    Note: Use the Color key to change the thread color of the lettering.
  23. Press the Card Reader tab. Select Design #23.
  24. Press the Rotate key. Rotate 90(. Position below phrase.
  25. Press the Card Reader tab. Select Design #11.
  26. Press the Rotate key. Rotate 90(. Position to the left of the flower.
  27. Press the Card Reader tab. Select Design #12.
  28. Press the Rotate key. Rotate 90(. Position to the right of the flower.
    Hint: To print a template of the layout, save to the Built-in memory or an ATA PC Card. Transfer to your computer. Open Customizer 10000 EasyEdit to import the layout and print a template.
  29. Save layout to the Built-in memory or an ATA PC Card.
  30. Mark a horizontal line across the front of the dress for lettering position.
  31. Place adhesive back stabilizer in hoop to hold dress in place for embroidery.
  32. Place dress in Large Hoop B using the Clothsetter for perfect placement.
  33. Layer water soluble stabilizer on top to keep stitches from sinking into knit.
  34. Stitch designs.
  35. Continue to combine designs from Memory Card #112 (Farm Designs) to be embroidered around hem of dress. Sheryl combined (#5 and #8), (#10 and #23), (#6, #23 and #9), (#21, #22 and #21), (#8 and #14), (#23 and #4), (#23 and #13) and (#23 and #7).

MC9000
  1. Place adhesive back stabilizer in the hoop.
  2. Prepare the garment by drawing a horizontal line across the yoke for each line of lettering. Draw a vertical line to the left. This will reference where each line of embroidery is to start sewing.
  3. Hoop the dress using the drawn lines as a guide for perfect alignment. The vertical line should be just to the inside of the left hole on the Clothsetter crosshair.
  4. Set up the Memory Craft for Professional-Style Embroidery.
  5. Insert Memory Card #101.
  6. Select Embroidery Mode ABC+.
  7. Select Gothic Font in 18mm.
  8. Select Upper Case and "O" memory. Select lower case, "l" memory, "d" memory, space memory, and upper case "M" memory.
  9. Select Edit key and move the bar to the far left. It should be positioned on the vertical line drawn.
  10. Press OK and sew.
  11. Press the Clear tab to clear the letters from the screen.
  12. Press the Page Forward key. Select the large space, memory.
  13. Press the Page Back key and select "a" memory, "c" memory.
  14. Press the Edit key and move the bar to the end of the first bar lining up the first inside notch with the end of the first vertical bar. Press OK and sew.
    Note: When you cut the thread leave a long piece, about three inches and done pull up on the thread when cutting. This will be used for lining up when the fabric is repositioned in the hoop.
  15. Remove the fabric from the hoop and re-hoop with the thread tail just to the inside of the left hole on the Clothsetter. Use the drawn horizontal line for perfect alignment.
  16. Place the hoop back on the machine.
  17. Repeat Step 11.
  18. In Upper Case program in "D" memory, lowercase "o" memory, "n" memory, "a" memory, and "l" memory.
  19. Press the Edit tab and position the needle over the thread tail left from the last letter sewn. Press OK and sew.
  20. Repeat Steps 11 and 12.
  21. Press the Page Back key and program in d memory.
  22. Repeat Step 14.
  23. Repeat Step 11.
  24. Program in "h" memory, "a" memory, "d" memory, space memory, and "a" memory, space memory.
  25. Select Edit key and move the bar to the second horizontal drawn line on the fabric. Position under the beginning of the third letter of the previously sewn letters (represented by a bar).
  26. Repeat Steps 10, 11 and 12.
  27. Press the Page Back key and program in "f" memory, "a" memory, and "r" memory.
  28. Repeat Step 14 and leave a thread tail as indicated.
  29. Repeat Steps 15, 16 and 17.
  30. Program "m" memory.
  31. Repeat Step 19.
  32. Combine suggested designs as above. Each design will have to be stitched one at a time. Create a template for positioning with the Clothsetter.
