Construction

  1. Set up the MC10000 for Professional-Style Embroidery.
  2. Sew 10 1/2" squares into strips following the diagram to the right.
  3. Sew the strips together to form the center of the tree skirt.
  4. Sew the four 26" red squares. Leave a 4" section, approximately 6" from the center, open on one of the seams for turning right side out later.
  5. Cut the two 19 1/2" green squares in half to make four triangles.
  6. Sew to the embroidered red triangles, right sides together. Leave the long straight edge open.
  7. Turn right side out. Be sure to properly turn points.
  8. Fold the skirt in half. Then in half again to establish a center line.
  9. At the ends of the folds near the raw edge fill in the fold with a pencil line so it can more easily be seen.
  10. On the tree skirt, mark the center of the center square.
  11. Extend the lines so that you will be able to match them up with the circle pattern.
  12. Trace the circle on the fabric, using the pattern piece provided.
  13. From the center of the center green square, draw a line to point to one of the music squares. Do not cut your embroidered point in half.
  14. Secure with pins on either side of the drawn line. This line is your cutting line. Cut out the center circle and the line to the point.
  15. Turn wrong side out and pin the raw edges of the circle.
  16. Using 1/4" seam allowance, sew around the circle. Turn right side out and press.
  17. Baste the two sides that you cut. This will keep them from shifting when you put the binding on.
  18. Select Stitch #2. Adjust the length to 2.6.
  19. Topstitch all around the tree skirt and the center hole.
  20. Make binding for the two raw edges,
  21. Starting at the point and advancing towards the center hole attach binding to the skirt.
