  • 1/2 yd. ribbon or cord for each
  • Water-soluble stabilizer
  • Small eyelets
  • Small suction cups with hook
  • All purpose thread
  • Wing needle

Small:

  1. Cut a 9" square from 1/4 yd. organza and water-soluble stabilizer.
  2. Lightly mist the water-soluble stabilizer with water and press the organza to the stabilizer. Let dry.
  3. Mark the center of the square with chalk. Figure 1.
  4. Use the Clothsetter and templates to place the stabilized organza in the hoop.
Hint: To set the designs on point as shown on the small sun catchers, rotate the fabric in the hoop so that the corners are in a north/south position.
  5. Set up the Memory Craft for Professional-Style Embroidery.
  6. Insert selected PC Design Card into machine. MC11000, 10001, 10000, 9700, 9500 and 300E owners must use Janome software to import designs from the MC8000 Embroidery Design Gallery CD ROM. Note: Design #3 from Flower Series and Design #3 and #4 from Floral Design Series were used in our samples. Select designs that are not densely stitched.
  7. When all the embroidery is completed, cut away any excess stabilizer. Follow the manufacturers directions to remove remaining stabilizer. Hang the organza squares to dry.
  8. Trim the embroidered organza 8" square, using a rotary cutter and cutting mat.
  9. Place the triangle template on each corner of the square and mark a cutting line. Cut off each corner.
  10. Set up the Memory Craft for ordinary sewing.
  11. Attach the 1/4" Foot O.
  12. Fold the corner 1 to 2 as indicated in the figure, right sides together. Figure 2.
  13. Sew a 1/4" seam locking off at the beginning and end.
  14. Repeat for each corner.
  15. Turn the corners right side out, the fabric will automatically turn down a 1 1/4" hem with mitered corners. Figure 3.
  16. Use a pressing cloth and low temperature iron to press the hem on each side.
  17. Insert the wing needle in the machine.
  18. Thread the needle and bobbin with embroidery thread to match the organza.
  19. Select a hemstitch.
  20. Sew on the right side of the square guiding the fabric so that the raw edge of the hem catches in the stitch.
  21. Replace the wing needle with the Blue Tip needle.
  22. Attach the Zipper foot E.
  23. Sew the beads along the bottom edge(s) of the sun catcher, locking off the stitching at the beginning and end.
  24. Place an eyelet at the top corner.
  25. Insert the suction cup hanger.
  26. Tie a bow with matching ribbon or cord.
