Nancy made these Beary Christmas stockings using PC Design Card #1016 (Teddy Bear Collection). They are perfect for any country fireplace. Add free motion quilting and decorative stitches for a professional finish.

Janome Supplies Required

Memory Craft 10000, or any Janome embroidery machine with Card Reader capabilities 
Card Reader 10000
Customizer 10000
USB or RS232C cable, or ATA PC Card

Memory Card #110 (Christmas Designs II)

Fabric and Notions Required

1 yd. 45" cotton for one stocking and lining
1/8 yd. contrast for band
1/2 yd. lightweight batting
1/2 yd. heavy tear away stabilizer
Temporary spray adhesive

Bears Playing Under the Tree

1. Connect the Card Reader 10000 to the MC10000.
2. Insert Memory Card #110 (Christmas Designs II) into the Card Reader.
3. Insert PC Design Card #1016 (Teddy Bear Collection) into the MC10000.
4. Press the Embroidery Mode key.
5. Press the Edit tab.
6. Press the Card Reader tab. Select Design #16.
7. Save the design to the Built-in memory or an ATA PC Card.
8. Open Customizer 10000 EasyGigaHoop.
9. Transfer the saved Design #16 to your computer via USB, RS232C or ATA PC Card.
10. Transfer Design #9, #12 and #13 from PC Design Card #1016 to your computer via USB, RS232C or ATA PC Card.
11. Click Import. Import Design #16 (tree) and Designs #9, #12 and #13.
12. Arrange the designs similar to sample or as desired.
13. Save the layout as an *.arg.
14. Click File. Click Print. Print a template for use with the Clothsetter 10000.
15. Transfer the layout to the MC10000 via USB, RS232C or ATA PC Card.

Bear on Holly Spray
1. Connect the Card Reader 10000 to the MC10000.
2. Insert Memory Card #110 (Christmas Designs II) into the Card Reader.
3. Insert PC Design Card #1016 (Teddy Bear Collection) into the MC10000.
4. Press the Embroidery Mode key.
5. Press the Edit tab.
6. Press the Card Reader tab. Select Design #13.
7. Press the PC Card tab. Select Design # 3. Position the bear on top of the holly spray. Press OK.
8. Press the Edit tab.
9. Save the designs to the Built-in memory or an ATA PC Card.
Note: Transfer the saved designs to Customizer 10000 to print a template for perfect placement with the Clothsetter 10000.


Stocking Construction

1. Trace the stocking shape on an 18" square of fabric.
2. Properly stabilize fabric for embroidery.
3. Mark the crosshairs for selected design layout created above on fabric.
4. Place fabric in the embroidery hoop using the Clothsetter 10000 for perfect placement.
5. Set up the Memory Craft 10000 for Professional-Style Embroidery.
6. Embroider the designs.
Note: For the Bear on Holly Spray, embroider Design #13 along the top of the stocking and at the toe. You may need to decrease the size slightly. 7. Remove the stabilizer and any markings.
8. Cut out the stocking front and back, lining front and back, and a front and back from the batting.
9. Lightly spray the wrong side of the front and back fabric with the adhesive.
10. Place the fabric on top of the batting pieces and press in place smoothing out any wrinkles.
11. Press the Ordinary Sewing Mode key.
P12. ress the Sewing Applications tab. Press the Quilting key. Select Free Quilting.
13. Attach the Darning foot P2.
14. Quilt the front and back of the stocking in a random fashion.
15. Attach the 1/4" Foot O.
16. Thread the machine with all-purpose thread.
17. Sew the stocking front and back right sides together. Turn right side out.
18. Sew the lining front and back right sides together.
19. Insert the lining into the stocking lining up the raw edges at the top.
20. Cut a strip of contrast fabric 1 1/2" x 6" for a loop.
21. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and sew a 1/4" seam. Turn right side out and press.
22. Fold the strip in half crosswise. Place it inside the stocking lining up the raw edges at the out side seam. Baste in place.
23. Cut a strip of contrast fabric 3 1/2" x 17 1/2". Press under 1/4" along one 17 1/2" side.
24. Sew the strip together along the short ends with a 1/4" seam to form a tube.
25. Place the contrast band right side in towards the lining. Pin the band in place matching up all the raw edges.
26. Sew through all the layers with a 1/4" seam. Turn the band to the outside of the stocking and press.
27. Select a decorative stitch and sew the band to secure it to the outside of the stocking.
28. Sew several rows of decorative stitches to give the stocking a designer look. Nancy used Appliqué 29. Stitch #85 and Decorative Stitch #177 on the Bears Playing Under the Tree and Cording Stitch #32 on Bear on Holly Spray.
