Dear Jan,
I am trying to make a broomstick skirt on the serger. How can I achieve ruffling on one layer of fabric while attaching it to a second layer of fabric? -Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,
Janome sergers make this task simple, fast and precise. Try the Gathering Attachment. This attachment gathers the bottom layer of fabric as it is being sewn to the top layer without gathering the top layer of fabric. An arm on the attachment swings between the two layers, pressing the bottom layer against the feed dogs to gather, while the top layer floats free of the pressure. Fullness of the gathers can be adjusted to suit your taste. This attachment has been recently released as part of the Attachment Set A for the Memory Craft Compulock.
