The 2013 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta will be the 9th biennial show dedicated to fiber arts education and to the display of fiber-related artwork. The biennial Fiesta is the major fundraiser for the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council, Inc. Hosted by the Albuquerque Fiber Arts Council, Inc. (AFAC), a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, the Fiesta includes both juried and judged works organized by 17 co-sponsoring New Mexico fiber arts guilds.
The Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta committee is meeting regularly and planning the 2013 Fiesta. All 2013 Fiesta information will be posted on this website as special events, special exhibits, classes and the featured artist are finalized. Rules of Entry and official Entry Forms are now available for the 2013 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. At the Exhibit Entry tab, you will find a listing of all 16 Fiesta Divisions.
**The 2011 Fiesta received 632 exhibit entry applications. To accomodate more exhibit entries and an expanded Vendor Mall, the Fiesta occupied both large exhibit halls at the Manual Lujan Complex, almost double the 2009 Fiesta footprint! The 2011 Fiesta hosted a vendor mall of 76 vendors, 3 fashion shows, guild and vendor demos, 11 classes and workshops, educational exhibits and a solo show by Featured Artist, Arley Berryhill. By all accounts, the 2011 Fiesta was a huge success and the show was enjoyed by all!
The 9th Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta will again occupy the two large halls of the Manuel Lujan Complex.

Please note: In order to maintain security for all quilts, we will only release a quilt to the person who is specified on the Quilt Entry Form. All sales will be final AFTER the quilt pick-up on Saturday evening.

How can something as simple as a dot bring so much energy and joy into the world? By combining its efforts with hundreds of other little dots! The same is true of quilters. Our combined efforts every year make for a great joy-filled celebration of quiltmaking. The 2013 show theme celebrates three of my favorite things-Polka Dots, Checks and Stripes. Put them all together and let the fun begin!

Before the dust had even settled from the 2012 show, VQF's Board and staff were hard at work planning the 2013 Festival — our 37th since our founding in Northfield. As always, we've rustled up some exceptional quilts, old and new, that cover the range from traditional to modern. We have confirmed several exhibits, starting with Lobby Lights. Susan Damone Balch, long-time friend of the Festival, teacher (AND fly fishing instructor), will offer a restrospective exhibit of her work. You'll find four exhibits in Miller North, commencing with the SewBatik Challenge's 2013 theme, "Summer Solstice." In the front of the hall, see an outstanding display of antique quilts from a private New York collection. Richard and Debra Grana's passion for odd and unusual as well as for beautiful quilts comes through in the 62 exceptional pieces in this exhibit. "Life's Work" is the Festival's tribute to the outstanding quilt artist, Jo Diggs, with 50 quilts on display. The final exhibit in Miller North is a group of 30 quilts assembled by Brenda Papdakis, author of Dear Jane, the best seller about Jane Stickle's astounding 1863 quilt, which can be found in Vermont's Bennington Museum. Added to this exciting cross section are the new quilts in our judged show, a sampling of the best work by quilters from the United States, Canada, and beyond, as well as quilts by our instructors.
Our 2013 faculty will cover a broad range of topics in three and one-half days of instruction. Classes offer a wide assortment of techniques from the most traditional to most non-traditional. Some classrooms will be supplied with machines generously supplied by the major machine companies. And vendors from across the country will be on hand to provide great shopping.
