Merchandising Sales Coordinator
Janome America, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of home sewing machines, seeks a dependable and enthusiastic Merchandising Sales Coordinator at its corporate headquarters in Mahwah, NJ.
This position’s main focus is to increase sales of existing after market products (primarily notions and accessories for sewing machines and creative software products) to current customer base of independent dealers as well as new customers; a successful candidate will also seek out new after market products to sell, establish/maintain relationships with new and existing vendors, work with Sales, Marketing and Education teams to create programs to grow the sales of notions and accessory business in the U.S.
- Maintain database of notions and accessories
- Work with other departments to develop and implement the company’s sales and new business development strategy
- Expand product categories in the sewing, embroidery and quilting market
- Analyze strategies to expand customer base for new and current products
- Research and evaluate new products to support product categories identified.
- Establish part numbers and descriptions and cross reference to other products as necessary
- Monitor external and internal environment for development of new market segments.
- Meet with vendors to negotiate new product specs and cost and profitability
- Attend trade shows & fairs and visit customers and potential customers.
- Analyze sales, discontinue and close out slow moving product
- Up to 20% travel
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Exposure to and understanding of corporate sales strategies.
- Highly developed analytical, organizational, and management writing skills.
- Strong oral communication skills for effective internal and external communication.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook
- Knowledge of the U.S. sewing and quilting industries is preferred
- Knowledge of the retail trade

Marketing Assistant
Janome America, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of home sewing machines, seeks a dependable and enthusiastic Marketing Assistant at its corporate headquarters in Mahwah, N.J. to perform general and specific tasks related to the promotion and marketing of our products.
The position’s main focus will be on market research, merchandising, campaign drives, social media coordination and the development of point of sale materials.
- Assist in writing and editing sales and marketing materials including articles, presentations and collateral
- Analyze trends, customers’ marketing needs and competitor offerings and make recommendations to management
- Contribute to company’s various social media efforts, submit content and keep sites updated and fresh
- Serve as liaison between the company and advertising agencies, print suppliers, freelance talent, and various marketing services
- Assist in managing marketing and media event budgets for company’s marketing programs
- Validate, fulfill and track requests for information
