Get More Done In Less Time With The Janome Memory Craft 4900 Quilter's Companion

9 December, 2004

MAHWAH , N.J. ñ It just doesn’t get much simpler than: Select it, Customize it, Sew it. The Janome Sewing Machine Company has introduced a machine that does just that. The new Memory Craft 4900 Quilter’s Companion is made for today’s tight schedules, when it's more important than ever to maximize every minute of available quilting and sewing time. The computerized MC4900QC combines powerful features with timesaving navigation, helping quilters and sewers spend less time adjusting and more time actually enjoying the hobby they love.

According to Randy Thomas, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the MC4900QC continues Janome's tradition of being the easiest-to-use brand on the market.

"When they were designing the Memory Craft 4900QC," says Thomas, "Janome looked for ways to speed up common adjustments. Stitch selection that might require a search through several sub-menus on some other brands, can be done by pushing a single key on the MC4900QC. This machine is for the quilting or sewing enthusiast who wants incredible stitch flexibility and selection, speedy set-up, and top-notch precision. It’s the perfect addition to our popular series of Quilter’s Companion machines."

Based on the award-winning Memory Craft 4800QC, the MC4900QC takes sewing efficiency one step further. The new machine has a backlit LCD display that's twice the size of the original, making navigation easier than ever. With 188 built-in decorative and utility stitches, 3 alphabet fonts, and 10 different buttonholes, the MC4900QC has more than twice as many stitches as its predecessor ñ 534 total stitches.

To speed up stitch selection the new machine utilizes Direct Mode keys, shortcuts that take you directly to the kind of stitch you're looking for. The ability to customize and combine stitches and then quickly recall them has also been expanded. The MC4900QC can elongate individual stitches from two to five times their original length, mirror image them, and then combine them in sequence with other stitches for unique decorative effects. The combinations can then be saved in one of five memory banks, and retrieved with the touch of a button.

Using Janome's Superior Feed System with its seven-piece feed dog, the MC4900QC produces excellent quality stitches across virtually any kind of fabric, even when running at its top speed of 820 stitches per minute. The powerful motor ensures needle penetration through even the thickest layers of fabric and batting.

Operation is also made easier with a dual krypton lamp system that eliminates shadows in the work area. And the automatic needle threader makes it possible to thread the machine without grabbing a magnifying glass. Simply place the thread across the hook and the needle threader pulls it through the eye of the needle.
