MAHWAH , N.J. ñ With professional speed, an extra-wide work area, and the quiet operation of a Janome, the Memory Craft 6500 Professional sewing machine was an instant hit when it debuted in 2003. Seamstresses, advanced quilters, and serious home sewers around the world loved the fact it had the power of an industrial machine with the friendly features of a home machine. How could Janome ever hope to improve on it?
The answer is the new Memory Craft 6600 Professional. It has everything that made its predecessor so popular plus a set of new features that make it an even better machine.
Like the MC6500P, the MC6600P has the largest bed space of any home machine. It operates at up to 1,000 stitches per minute, and includes an independent bobbin winder, automated thread cutter, needle threader, and knee lift. The bright LCD screen makes it easy for stitches to be customized and saved.
At the top of the list of new features is the AcuFeed: Layered Fabric Feeding System, which moves layers of fabric under the needle without shifting. Only Janome has the technology to integrate the innovative AcuFeed foot with their unique seven-point feed dog system. It’s truly a complete feeding system. All fabrics move smoothly, even the slippery ones like velvet. It also glides through thick layers of quilting fabric and batting, and heavy home dec yardage.
The next big improvement is the Start/Stop button. This was one of the features MC6500P users suggested. It allows for sewing without using the foot pedal. Having a Start/Stop button can make long sessions of free-form quilting or intense appliquÈ much more relaxing. It's like having cruise control on a long car drive. The user touches the button and the Memory Craft 6600P smoothly accelerates to top speed. Another touch and the machine slows to a stop. The button is located just above the needle so it’s easy to reach while guiding the fabric.
The sewing space on the MC6600P is 60% larger than most home machines, and now it has a dual lighting system that illuminates all 45 square inches. Specially tuned to provide a brighter cleaner illumination, the bright dual sewing lights make it easier to see the machines beautifully precise stitches.
For extra support on big projects, a large extension table comes standard with the Memory Craft 6600P. Designed specifically for the machine, it quickly slides into place around the sewing bed.
The machine comes with 163 stitches divided into four quick-access modes that range from Utility to Decorative to Monogramming. Of the seven buttonholes, six are one-step sensor buttonholes. The seventh is an Automatic buttonhole, perfect for bulky or other difficult fabrics that require a custom touch. Buttonhole shapes include square, rounded and keyhole. Also included in the stitch package are two styles of lettering: Block and Script plus European letters in upper and lower case. Each is available in 5mm or 7mm sizes.
