just bought a slightly used 6600P memory craft. I got the correct foot on with the bar, but when I started the machine, it doesn't move the fabric - just sits there as if trying to knot the stitch - what am I doing wrong? The manual hasn't helped much. Not sure how to set the correct stitch or pattern, either. Tried it with the feed dogs down and the feed dogs up. I just want to do a straight seam for the quilt.

I purchased a Janome 6600P 18,months ago. For the past 2 weeks
when I'm piecing if I speed up the machine it immediately pulls
the fabric to the left. It's alright when I'm sewing at the lowest
speed but if I move it up even just a notch it starts dragging the
fabric. I hope someone maybe able to help.
I cannot go to the shop where I purchased the machine as it's
a 12 hour roundtrip from where I live.

I've heard from a number of people that the 7700 doesn't like The Bottom Line Thread by Superior. I've got a 7700 and a 6500 and it seems neither like this thread. I've tried everything I can think of but every so often the top thread shreds or the bobbin thread gets hung up but the problems with both machines are mainly on top. The 6500 seems a little happier with this thread than the 7700. Right now I'm working with the 6500 and I've adjusted the top tension per Superior's instructions, tried new needles and am using a thread stand in addition to the one that comes with the machine. The second stand has reduced the problem but not eliminated it. Do you have any experiece with this thread and can you make any suggestions?

: I have a Janome 1600 dbx and it quilts beautifully with the walking foot; but use the free motion quilting foot - the thread shreds and breaks. I have tried everything I can possibly think of - my dealer says the instructions in the book are not right, but sometimes nothing works. I have a Jelly Roll quilt that I have used the walking foot and quilted the straight lines; but now I want to quilt the borders using the free motion foot. Every few inches the thread breaks. Any suggestions out there?

Has anyone figured how to use the FM Couching foot properly? Having a lot of trouble actually being able to free motion with it. Seems it only works if you're going straight forward.

Hello I have only just got my machine & I have an error message already :-( I tried embroidery for the first time today but I had a reoccurring error message saying attach presser foot 'P' even though I had that fooy already attached correctly. I checked & rechecked every possible setting & everything was right but it still showed the presser foot 'P' error which I could not over-ride at all so the machine would not even start! Has anyone else had this issue & if so how did you fix it please? Thank you Emma :-)

I have a 1600P. At times I would like to use the transparent foot with circle markings that is included the following set:

Free Motion Quilt Foot Set, Convertible (High Shank) Part Number: 202001003

At other times want to use the Ruler Foot with high sides that is included in this set:

Convertible Free-Motion Frame Quilting Feet for 1600P Series Part Number: 767434005

This set with the Ruler Foot says it is compatible with the 1600P Convertible set:

Convertible Free-Motion Quilting Foot Set for 1600P Series Part Number: 767433004

However, I do not want to get this set because it does not have the transparent, round foot with markings that is included in the "high shank" set.

My questions are: 1) Is there any difference between the part that has the springs that attaches to the presser foot lifter that is included in the 1600P set, and the part with the springs that is included in the "high shank" set? 2) Will the Ruler Foot attach to the part with the springs that is included in the "high shank" set?

I understand that the bobbin cover that is included with the "high shank" set will not fit the 1600P, and I already have the feed dog cover that I need for quilting with the 1600P, so, it's OK that the "high shank" set does not include that part.
