I can't find any information about the 11000 upgrade that was announced this month. Does anyone have information?

Thanks.

Hi Kathy,

The latest update that I am aware of came out earlier in 2008 and is Version 1.31. You can download this from the Janome Global site (Janome.co). Follow the directions carefully and your update should go smoothly. I recommend that you use a Memory Card rather than a USB stick but I know of someone who did it quite successful with the USB even though it is recommended the other way. I believe the Card is faster. Good luck with your upgrade. I will be watching for more just in case.

Hi,
My machine is current with that version. I do know, however, that Janome just announced an upgrade to a 11001. It's going to be a purchase upgrade and I had heard it has feature updates that include a new hoop. Guess it will be similar to what they did going from the 10000 to the 10001. Just wondering what this is going to cost me.

I heard somewhere that it was around $300.00 but I could be wrong.

I asked Jan on this site and she said to contact your dealer. I did that and my dealer is going to ask Janome Canada if there is a new upgrade. I'll let you know when I hear back. I have a feeling that it is something that will be launched this fall so we are being kept in suspense for a while. The cost of the upgrade from 10000 to 10001 for me was $250 Canadian. Hope this helps a little.

Ok--my dealer gave me this information when she called to see if I wanted to preorder the upgrade. It will have a cost of just under $500 (U.S.)--I think $499.99. According to information that she had received from her Janome district representative--there will be a new hoop, a CD of instructions, new software, and an accessory that will only be able to be used with the 11000 upgrade. She still wasn't sure when it would come out. She was guessing August or September--I'm thinking more like September since it still seems to be "mums the word" about it still from Janome. The email that she got about the upgrade said that it was the "next generation" of sewing. Of course, I think that, as with all major upgrades, what is on our machines now will be "wiped out" and new upgrade will be put in. So...if you have lots of designs stored in your machine--best to have them backed up. I know that I had settings for certain stitches stored in the files in the ordinary sewing part of my machine and with the last update all were wiped out--so write down settings for the ordinary sewing stitches that you have stored and save the designs that you have stored in the embroidery part of your machine somewhere else! But I am pretty sure that this will be a significant change for our 11000's--like getting a new machine.

We can "hope" for new built-in designs, new stitches, new features, perhaps the return of favorites (like hoop forward with problems fixed), etc., etc. But I guess we will just have to wait patiently for Janome to decide that it is time to let the cat out of the bag!!!! and get the upgrade to us!

I find that the cost of the upgrades are far to high, plus there is always new accessaries required as well. The initial cost of the machine is plenty and the upgrades should be more affordable. This extra expense not help to incourage future purchasers or present ones to continue with Janome.

I have heard that the upgrade will be revealed to the Janome dealers on Wednesday. So they should have more info this week. I also heard the 500 dollar price tag and I agree it is a little steep. I keep telling myself it is cheaper than going from trading in an 11000 to a 12000 machine. I am getting excited for the new features and hoop.

I had already started saving to get an embellisher. I don't know if I can afford both. Does anyone else have a felting machine?

If Janome didn't come out with anything new people would probably switch to the competition. Yes it cost money but we are moving forward. Also you do not have to buy the upgrade, if you are satisfiied with your machine thats great. Some of us want new things. The new hoop and the quilting functions seem like they will be the coolest thing in this industry since Janome Introduced the mc8000.

What is an embellisher? I am considering the Felting Machine right after I get a Cover Pro. Talked with my wonderful dealer yesterday. He will have what he needs to put the upgrade on my 11k in about two weeks. I am excited about it. I think it will add a whole new dimension to our machines. Can't wait. Way less expensive than buying a whole new machine to get a few more features.

Name. Are you referring to "Barbara in NH"? If so, just go into your profile and remove it. Some forumees use this space to give out info. on the machines they have and also where they live. It can be useful when others give out advice on suppliers etc. This is strictly up to you.

If MYTHYME is the problem, you will have to change your sign-in.

An embellisher and felting machine are the same thing.

My dealer showed me the box which has the hoop in it. He is waiting for another part which he needs before he can install everything. There is a part in the machine which needs to be changed before the upgrade can be used. I like the idea of the magnetic hoop. From what understood is that the upgrade will include a lot of great features. Auto-cutting threads at color stops when embroidering is a plus, though I have never minded the little "touch" to cut the threads. What has me most intrigued is the quilting possibilities. I have recently gotten in to quilting again and am working lap quilts. I like to do some quilting in the borders and have been doing it by hand on my 11K. I think I am going to be able to use the magnetic hoop to do the quilting for me and it will be easy to just move the quilt along with the magnectic hoop. I understand the machine will have wonderful guides, etc. I still can't wait. We will be able to make a box with a circle, heart or another box in the center, etc. We can tell the machine to just stipple around the selected design in the middle. I am envisioning putting embroidery in the center that I choose and stippling around it. Do I sound excited or what? My dealer said he will be selling it for around $379.

I just went on to Janome and there is a "11000 special addition" featuring quilting hoop and stipple features in the hoop plus several other upgrades from the regular 11000.
