Called DRAWings Snap, available through i tunes store for free.
You can access some free designs and save to whatever format you want, load your own designs, stash them in the ether, produce thread shopping lists and the viewer is lovely. You can do simple colour editing on it too. I think it is a must have app for high tech embroiderers like us!

Here's another embroidery app for iPhones and iPads ... only for viewing, but it's free, too:

http://itunes.com/apps/stitchbuddyview

If you want to edit designs, an HD version is available for the iPad with much more functionality like moving / rotating / deleting parts of a design, basting, combining designs, changing thread colors...

Well, I try not to :-) Doing IT for a living, computers take their part of my time anyway, but there are other hobbies to put things into perspective. Nevertheless, StitchBuddy is my "baby" for the last five (wow!) years...

I must say that I love Stitch Buddy, and Mattes has been so helpful when asked questions.

I just downloaded both apps: Drawings and Stitch Buddy on my iPhone. I'm new to my MC 12000 and I love finding embroidery apps that will work with my iPhone. Now if Janome would just get on the band wagon and add MACs operating system to Horizon Link I would be very pleased.

I don't use HL. I don't know many who do. I use Embird and many of the other forum members use Janome software.

Jacquie: I thought all Janome MC 12K users would use the HL. Do you need a PC with Windows for Embird? I'm a MAC ProBook laptop user and I don't want to go back to a PC. We only have one PC and my Hubby uses it. At this point I don't want to add a Windows program to my MAC because I don't want the expense of having to buy a Windows operating system for my MAC. I have spent enough $ on this new embroidery hobby already. I couldn't believe how expensive the embroidery thread is and there always seem to be a special foot I want or new accessory. LOL!

Any Mac user can work with Janome software by getting a program called Fusion (by VMware), I think it's around $100 and makes your Mac think it's a PC.

jsm1144: Thanks! I know the Fusion program isn't that expensive but Hubby said I would also have to buy the expensive Windows Operating System for my MAC. And we don't want to do that.

There is absolutely NO need for additional software to transfer designs to a Janome embroidery machine, the OS X Finder will just do fine: Copy JEF designs to the right location on the USB stick / ATA card is all it needs to transfer.

This is really not meant to be an advertisement, but please look back at StitchBuddy's website where I offer a native OS X version with editing capabilities. What still might raise the need for Windows are the few (and expensive) options for punching designs, but for combining, printing, previewing and even editing embroideries, some apps are available on OS X, one of them is StitchBuddy (for Mac).

I agree, not for transfer. One day hopefully the digitizing side of things will also be Mac based!

mattes: Thanks for your help. Does Stitchbuddy work on an Apple MacBook Pro? I don't have an iPad but I do have an Apple MacBook Pro.

SandyKay,

Yes Stitch Buddy works on a Mac Book Pro - that's what I use for a computer. I also have Parallels and Windows 7, but Stitch Buddy works just fine to edit designs. It also lets you preview designs in Finder.

I hope you are not offended by some quick info about StitchBuddy HD: Starting today with a new iOS 7 version StitchBuddy HD is sold for only USD 9.99 (65% off!), with free updates. And this is not a one-time offer, but a permanent price reduction.

This is one offer that will not be complained about or reported to the moderator. I do not have a MAC but we all appreciate how much of your time and expertise you have generously given to MAC users on this forum.
