Has anyone used the quilt designs to quilt a large quilt? Is it hard to hoop each quilt square?

I did a wall hanging or large lap size quilt and it worked great - that was before the new hoop that I just got. I used the magnets that are supplied with the larger hoops. The quilt never popped out at all and I did 12 blocks and it didn't take very long.

There was a major update, available of the Janome Global site for the 12000 and Horizon Link. That update has more quilt designs, and allowed for the new Acuhoop, which is a purchasable upgrade for our machines. I got mine about 3 weeks ago but haven't used it yet. It was more expensive than I thought it would be. I've only paid for about ½ of it as my dealer didn't know the price at the time I picked it up. I probably still owe her one arm. The hoop is 220 X 220 or 8.6"X8.6" - a nice size for doing several or lots of hoopings and the magnets are nice and there are 8 of them.

I still am embroidering/quilting on an 11000SE with plans to upgrade soon, VERY soon. I have all the hoops for the 11k including the RE & SQ with the magnets. Makes quilting very fast, hooping one area while another sews and just keeping going! Have not been a fan of accufill process, just do my own digitizing for quilting blocks or scan stencils and digitize. Do the upgrades come with the purchase of the 12000 and MBX especially when purchased at the same time or the upgrades still additional?

There are a few updates that have been free with the 12,000 but the latest is a purchased upgrade for the new hoop. The new quilting hoop is a 8.7 X 8.7 which is considerably larger than the largest 11,000 quilting hoop. I have played a little with the quilt program and will be taking a review class to understand it more and then I will be teaching it at my local dealer. it is much easier to understand than our 11,000 was.

Vicky, when you upgrade you will not be disappointed. The 12000 is a great sewing and embroidery machine.

When you say 'quilt program' are you talking about Digitizer or the built-in AcuFil on the sewing machine? I never did use the AcuFil feature on the 11k, just digitized what I needed quilted because it never seemed as good/easy on the machine as it did through the Digitizer

jsm, I like the others am bewildered by your response. Cheryl gave correct information regarding the free and purchased updates for the machines. The correct information regards the hoops and magnets, and her own experience of the cost, which she along with many others considers expensive.
Is her subjective reaction to the cost incorrect? hardly as it is hers. Was she incorrect about the free updates, no they are still on the global site. Was she incorrect about the paid upgrade, no, it's been available for a few weeks. As for the cost, it caused considerable surprise when it became known, why? because it was greater than the majority of 12k owners expected.
She said nothing derogatory about the upgrade, commented only on her dealers lack of information regarding the cost, which given her dealer is an independent and busy, is understandable.
So please qualify your assertion that she is wrong, and your implication she is fuelling rumours.

VicktL The new program for the 12,000 is installed on your computer and you do the calculating on the computer. So much easier than with our 11,000SE. You can print templates and do your calculation right on the screen and can send your design to your machine, either by USB or direct connect.
Cheryl is right it is an awesome machine and program.

Thanks to all! I picked up my 12k on Tuesday, 8-14, as well as the MBX but not the upgrade with the new hoop. Didn't even ask what it cost. Have enough to learn right now. Machine sews like a dream - so quiet! Watched the instructional DVD and got a lot from it. Horizon Link is still baffling me. Having trouble setting up thread cutting to do what I want like sew an app layout that needs to cut between sections but doesn't. Am trying combinations of consecutive color grouping and thread cutting advanced settings. It has only been 4 days but I'll get there! Putting off Trevor tutorials until I am more familiar with the machine but have seen a couple of his DVD's and learned so much and I LOVE to digitize!

Don't feel bad, HL baffles us all. Stupid program. I use mine for printing templates and nothing else.

That is about what I thought of customizer. I usually print templates right from Digitizer. Right now the thread cutting is making me crazy. And what does consecutive color grouping mean?

Jacquie, You are lucky you can print. I upgraded my Apple software and lost my stupid printer - Oh, maybe I'm the one that's stupid. I'll get it going and hopefully not by buying a new printer.

VickyL, Consecutive colour grouping means (I think) that it will sew all the blue sections, and then all the red and then all the yellow instead of doing some of the blue and a bunch of other colours and then going back to the blue. This is a nice idea because it saves time changing colours. BUT, this is only useful if the design does not have layers of colours and shadings. If the design has this, the layers and shades will not be in the correct order and will not look wonderful. It should work very well on relatively simple designs though. You will have to determine if this feature is suitable. I do this by seeing how dense the design is. Rule of thumb, if in doubt, don't switch this feature on.
