Another moderator stated that the Janome 12000 does not keep a stitch counter. A possible buyer for my machine did ask if it was available.

The janome 12,000 has only been available since October 2011 does the buyer realize that it is less than 1 year old and should be under warranty? I would think they would be more interested in the features and if you arranged service on it.

I don't think it would still be under warranty. On Janome's 12000 page on warranty info, they list two significant restrictions on their warranty:
1) This Janome warranty is exclusive to the original purchaser of the Product and is provided for normal household or commercial use. Janome America, Inc. warrants this Product for a period of twenty-five (25) years from the date of original purchase against defective materials and/or workmanship, excluding (I) electronic component parts (including but not limited to circuit boards, step motors and all other electronic and non-electronic pattern control units), which are warranted for a period of five (5) years from the date of purchase, and (II) labor, which shall be provided for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase free of charge. Following a lapse of one (1) year from the original purchase date your Authorized Janome Dealer or Janome Authorized Service Center can provide parts and/or labor at an additional cost to you. As stated above, this warranty is in respect of normal household use of the Product. Machines used commercially are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase in respect of parts and service. No further warranty shall apply to Products used for commercial purposes.
2) This warranty is void - that is, the Product was purchased without warranty - if you did not purchase it from an authorized Janome dealer within the United States
(assumes a US purchase)
If you're buying a used machine from a dealer, any warranty is probably the dealer's option and not Janome's.
At least that's how it reads to me.

I was thinking that he could get the machine serviced if it was under the year that being he was the original owner.
I believe the machine is under full warranty for one year like the other Janome machines and the parts would be covered for five full years. Provided it was purchased from a dealer. The other Janome machines I have owned had that warranty. Perhaps it is just my dealer that does that.
I also thought it strange that the person requesting the info would want to sell the 12,000 now that it is a new top of the line. Perhaps they can answer that for me?
Steven thanks for the info.

I would get the serial number from it and send it to Janome in case it's a stolen one.

The 12000 wasn't even launched a year ago. Remember it was at Conference, the beginning of September 2011. There should be warranty unless restrictions were not heeded. I never heard of stitch count having any bearing on warranty either.

Warranties on machines are not transferable, Steven is quite right in his reading of the wording. only the original purchaser of the machine enjoys the cover the warranty gives. If a machine is sold by the original owner after a few months, the remaining period of the warranty does not transfer to the new owner. If it sold by a dealer as it was part of a trade in deal the dealer can apply to Janome who might consider a short warranty period, or suggest the dealer arrange their own dealer warranty.

Mom it wasn't a rumour, a consignment of 11K's were stolen but their serial numbers were known and were circulated to dealers.

...and then a few weeks back a shipment of machines were "lost" on a delivery by UPS so there are some 12000's out there that were not recieved by the dealer but are somewhere. I'm still wondering why anyone would already be selling a 12000 and another buyer wondering how many stitches it has made? Are they embroidery stitches, free motion stitches, ordinary sewing stitches or Artistic "stitches"-too many variables, I think what they would want is the number of times the take up lever has cycled and Janome doesn't record that.
