I have a 9700 Memory Craft and I have sewn three bridesmaids dresses from Tafata material without a hitch. Now my machine has decided to give me trouble. I can take the bottom thread and put it straight out. My tension is all off and I don't know how to fix it. I have tried turning the screw on the bobbin case without any luck, can anyone help

Have you changed your needle? Make sure that both top and bobbin thread are threaded correctly. Somethings just re-threading the machine will do the trick. Also make sure you are using a needle that is correct for your fabric. If that doesn't work you might need to take your machine in to be serviced so that the tension can be checked.

Agreed on getting the machine to your dealer, expecially if you've changed the bobbin tension yourself. Janome (and I think most people here) recommends that users don't adjust bobbin tension, ever. If you do want to experiment with it, you might consider buying a spare bobbon case so you have one that's factory set and one that has your settings. But if you need to adjust it manually, chances are something else is going on. When you bring your machine to the dealer, have it threaded using the thread that's giving you trouble, and bring in a fabric sample so they can see if something else is going on. If they haven't shown you how to clean around the bobbin case properly, make sure they do (the little line drawings in the manual can be a bit misleading sometimes). Make sure they show you how and when to add a drop of oil to the little wick in the center of the bobbin case (I'm pretty sure the 9700 has this). And if you do bring it in for service, bring your A hoop (I think it's A, the 5x7 one, it's the ST hoop for an 11000) so they can calibrate your hoop positioning at the same time. Every hoop is slightly different, so it works best if you bring in your own hoop. If you have to bring it in to be serviced, might as well get everything done at once!

The "A" hoop is the 126 X 100 (approx. 4 X 4.5"). That is the one usually used for calibration but the "B" hoop (5X7) will also do the trick.

Steven - the "B" hoop is called the "RE" hoop for the 11000 and it isn't standard but was an add-on after we begged to have it as the go between from the "A" to the 200 X 200 square hoop. Now we are begging for that size hoop yet again as it isn't part of the 12000 hooping system either.
