Hi,
Has anyone updated their machine through their dealer yet? I'm waiting for my dealer to get her update in the store so that I can do this. I also want to get the new hoop - yikes more cash out of my pocket, but at least the update is free. I don't want to wait until July when Janome puts it up on the website. I am an impatient witch, am I not? My curiosity is running wild with what's new for us, besides the hoop. Also, what will the cloth setter look like? Not sure if I will get that but we'll see. Will Digitizer MBX have an update too? I know the hoop is already there but maybe there is more.

Cheryl not all dealers have all the information on the update. I called mine Thursday and he said he knew nothing?? but last week I called and one of the girls in the store said she had not had time to do it so she would call me back and never did. My dealer called yesterday and said Janome told him that all the info would be to him by June 11th. so hopefully we will know something next week. I feel like you do why not let us do it as a download now. We have done all our other ones.

You are talking about the second update, right? I haven't put the first on my machine yet (working on it). Anybody know what the second is supposed to do?

Yes Jacquie we are talking about the second update.
The 2nd one is going to add some features to the machine e.g. the quilting hoop and the bobbin sensor is going to be corrected, e.g. filling the bobbin and I think the nesssage about the bobbin not being full to finish the design and then I think they said to correct some other issues and also add something to the stitch composer, which you know how I feel about HL. If you go to the top of this page where it says E-news, click on that I think there is a newsletter telling us what the update will do.

Now Jacquie, don't tie you knickers in a knot as you want a 5X7 and it is not there (not that I know for sure as I haven't got mine yet). We have to keep on asking Janome for that hoop if it is something that we want. MOM, I know the 5.5 X 5.5 covers most but just not quite all. Also as someone has asked for something that she can do "oneies". Now the problem there might be the length of the support to the embroidery arm. I would think that would be a bugger to get into something small and round and keep the under fabric out of the way - but I haven't tried that yet either.
The updates are correcting a bunch of things that were a bit of a problem for many and they fixed some of that and added the few extras - they want more money out of us for the new hoops. That seems to be the trend these days so we keep spending and keep the economy going. I might just have to go back to work when I'm a very old lady.

At least one member of Jims 12000 group has done it, she's explained how on his group.
will there be an MBX update, probably, its a good 6 months since it launched.

I have the update. Yes, the new Accufil hoop is there, I can change the background color from black to white, I put it back on black, wish it were a soft blue color.....women are never happy are we!
No 5 x 7 hoop though, drat.
Does anyone know how much the new hoop will cost?

I've updated both the machine and the computer and the stitch composer is now even BETTER than before. I made the love letter from the graphics that are included and it is the cutest darn thing ever! Especially when combined with the love word!
The machine part of the update is nice, the ability to change the height of the presser foot when free motion quilting is now on the screen and you don't have to go to the "SET" mode. The new bobbin sensor is fantastic, even if the machine is stitching away on a long color, suddenly it will stop, check its bobbin and continue to sew (unless it warns you and if you have the thing turned on and it stops you , you can turn it off and it will sew and it will still warn you but will let you sew and run out of thread.

Is the update for the Stitch composer for the computer included on the CD. Some that have updated said the dealer only had them update the machine. Mine is in the dealer now to be serviced for some issues I am having and he is going to do the update, do you think I should bring in my laptop when I pick it up?

Mom, When you say that you can change the background colour from black to white, are you referring to the machine screen. I hope so. The black screen was discontinued many years ago by computer manufacturers because of visibility problems etc. Not sure why Janome thought it would be a good idea to bring it back.

Yes you have the option of either color. you can toggle back and forth.
