Hi All!

I have a Janome 10000/01. I am having a problem with it jamming up (thread bunching up). I have thread and re-thread, changed needles, and talked to dealer where I purchased it. I have slowed the Speed and it helps but still a bit of an issue. It was serviced right before I purchased it.

I am also having an issue with Monogram Wizard Plus (Extended Features). I have a baby blanket that I am doing. I have a design that I have embroidered and it turned out pretty nice. However when I go to set-up the lettering in MW+ I can't get it big enough to look nice and proportioned to the blanket size (30 x 30). I have the A, B, and GigaHoop. NO matter what size I select, it comes up with a message that says I need to have the 11000. ARRRRGGGGG!

Any constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I hate to think that I have to make different files for the first, middle, and last names just to be readable.

Oh well, off to have my "whine" and cheese....lol

Hi Spunky,

Your letters need to fit in the 5X7 hoop for your 10000/10001. You also need to select the 10001 machine in the top bar for machine setting or you get an error if you've got the wrong one. Your lettering will also be side ways to go the length of the hoop, so position it correctly on the blanket and it will stitch out nicely.

Let us know how you make out. I don't have Monogram Wizard so I can't tell you how that program works. What I have explained works in Digitizer but I expect that yours does something similar.

Thanks Cheryl! What "Bar" the top? My machine is a 10000 that has been updated to the 10001 (Version 3).

I don' quite understand the lettering sideways. Do you mean turn it when you set up the lettering so it runs longways? Do you know the embroider-able area in the 5 x 7 hoop?

Thanks!

Spunky, The letters will be on their side and fit the length of the 7" side of the hoop. In the landscape position rather than portrait.

Spunky. try saving your design to your computer as a JEF. Then if you do not have software you can send it to your machine and rotate it to be a landscape position like Cheryl said. I am not sure if you will be able to send it to your machine without rotating it first, but you can try.

Spunky, I take it you are using MW to do your editing in, in which case you need to enter the dimensions of your hoop.
The A/F Hoop, height 110 mm x width 126mm or 4.33 inches by 4.961 inches.
B hoop, height 200mmx 140mm width. or height 7.874 inches , by width 5.512 inches. So depnding on the size you make your lettrs you may have to rotate your letters in MW so they stitch heads to the left of the hoop and tails to the right side. Do you have the MC 10k giga extension table to support the hoop at the front and left of the machine, or anything that's large or heavy is going to cause drag on the hoop and bouncing.
When you have threaded up, with presser foot raised to make sure the tnsion plates are open. Open the cover at the left of the machines upper body, as if you were going to change the light, now check your thread sits right at the bottom of the swan neck take up arm. If it isnt, you'll get thread sests under the stitching plate. Dont use the horizontal spool pin as it cant prevent thread spooling, thats when too mucg thread unwinds and can escape the tension plates and the take up arm. Slow your stitching speed to 400spm, lower your top tension to at least one below mid tension, you do that in SET, Embroidery, arrow forward till you get the tension adjustment screen and tap the minus symbol , I have mine at least 2 below the mid mark. Presser foot wheel on the top of the machine, grey colour, needs to be on 2. when you have done all that, and register your tension setting before using the return symbol. close the hinged cover on the left of the machine, make certain your thrad is behind the thrad guides one at the bottom of the threading channel and one on the needle arm itself, bit fiddly but you must use it. That one makes certain the thread enters the eye of the needle properly.

Use a cutaway stabiliser, as lettering causes too much pull for tearaway, and try again. You'll find in the machine manual a diagram showing the two thread guides. Get a freestanding thread stand it takes the thread from the top of a spool of thread and any spooling thread drops down doesnt get carried along the thread channel.
