I need some color advice... I bought a set of navy and white kitchen towels to monogram as a Christmas present for my stepdaughter. Blue is her favorite color. Unfortunately, they aren't all the same pattern. In 2 of them the blue and white are mixed such that there isn't a solid area of 2" or so where the initial can be placed in the opposite color. So I am thinking I need to use a contrast color that is neither white nor bue. But I'm not sure what color...Her counters are black and white; Im reluctant to use black though, seems too dark with the navy... Any advice? Go with the black? Burgundy red? Forest green?Chocolate brown? Another shade of blue like turquoise??? It's so hard to tell from the thread and if I sew it out and I'm wrong, end of towel....Thanks
FWIW, I would recommend doing an applique in a white oval and use a cross stitch or any fill stitch over that in white thread, then do a navy initial. If I were doing it for myself, I'd do the initial in fuchsia as I love navy and fuchsia together. My DIL had some towels that she didn't like the Monogram so I programmed an oval applique with a fill stitch and then monogramed on the applique and they turned out quite nice.
Thanks sewwhateverl I did a circle (I was going to use an oval but as the letter's dimensions are pretty much square and the oval would have had tto be very high to make up for the width) in photoshop elements and digitized it to be a weave fill, annd then put the letter in on top as sattin ffilll and I will use white & navy...but haven't had time to sew it out yet
