Hi,I am just new to this forum.I have a "new to me"janome300e.The lady I got it from included some cards that she had loaded designs on to.These work great. But I cannot seem to get the designs, that I download to the card , to come up on the machines screen.I am only downloading small designs,I get them into the .jef format, but the machine isn't picking them up.Can any one help me.I am getting so frustrated. My sister ,who is pretty good with tech stuff, also tried to no avail.
Thank you.AliceB

Before you try to transfer the designs to the card you need to put your card into the adapter and format your card in the Janome 300 first for it to create folders for the designs then you place them in the EMBF folder.

When you format the cards, it will clear off any existing designs so be sure to save them on your computer before you clean them. What size are these cards? They should not be any larger than 512mb.

No they are the right size because she used them successfully and the window with the properties shows a lot of free space. As for formatting the card it has been in the machine several times would that not have formatted it.Do the designs only have to be in .jef or are there two formats required.I can put them in the EMBF folder , I just can't get the janome to recognize them.I know several people have written in with this type of problem. Is there any other easier solution like software that would bypass all the cutting and pasting etc?

Alice, insert your flash cards into your pc, open the emb folder and the folder inside if there is one, then highlight ALL the designs, right click and choose copy, now go to which ever folder you keep designs in and paste them in there. now go back to your CF card and delete the contents of the folder, NOT the folder itself. Now go and find the designs you want for the project you want to stitch.
Your machine has a small memory, small processor and can't cope with too many designs on a card, don't be misled by the space remaining on the card. Your CF cards are for temporary design storage while you need them at the machine for a project.
Don't use Cut and Paste, use Copy and Paste, using cut and paste effectively removes a copy of that design from your PC. If your cards corrupt, you will have lost those designs.
Check none of the designs have more than 64000 stitches, aren't too big for the hoops, are JEF formats, as your machine wont read them if just one of those parameters isn't correct. There is software that will write to your card, but really it's no quicker than you using copy and paste. If you just want to view, check stitch counts, size, google TES viewer and download then install it. That has a browser which will show designs in a folder pictorially, not just a windows file icon.
