When using my digitizing software, I can't copy/paste. Instead I get an exception access violation code c0000005 and the program crashes, sometimes freezing my computer so I have to reboot. I'm told by my local computer store that if I can copy/paste in other applications (and I can) that this is a Janome software problem. I need help with a fix. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no luck.

Have you checked the Janome website for all the updates on your software. Which Digitizing software do you have?

The only time I have gotten that message and had my program crash is when I try to change a design that is protected by the digitizer, ie: changing the stitch types- satin to weave or embossed. This has happened to me more than once, but always seems to be in this type of circumstance. You don't know these locks or protections are in place until it crashes. I guess it is a digitizers way of protecting their work and I do try to honor their rights.

If you try and change a fill in a stitch file, in a digitising program, you will be blocked, there is no stitch data present for the program to use. Most digitising software operates 2 file types, object and stitch. The object is the file type that carries all the necassary information for the stitch generation when converted to a stitch file. Object files can't be stitched.
If you think of a cake recipe, the object file, it lists all the items needed to create that cake. You can subtract some sugar for syrup or honey. alter the flour amount, vary the flavouring, you combine your ingredients and pop it in the oven. That is the conversion stage, when it comes from the cooker it can no longer be altered, everything is fixed, you as the consumer and not the maker, have no idea how many eggs, how much sugar, fat, flour, was used to create the cake. You cannot remove the butter from the finished cake to substitute a low fat spread, it isnt possible.
The stitch file is the cooked cake, it only contains block of stitches, no density settings, no stitch types, no lengths, only needle penetrations. It isnt the digitisers way of protecting their design, just the way programs operate.
Having said that and to prevent a flood of mails that say Oh I can do it in so and so, Editing programs will change fill types for you, they are designed to work on Stitch files, not object files. Buzz Edit or Embirds Editor are just 2 that will do it. But tread warily, those programs are taking a slice of cake and replacing with another slice of a different flavour, but have no idea what density the original area they are changing was. So you could find the replacement is far too dense for the design. Will cause gaps to appear, other elements to be misaligned. A good digitiser digitises to take into account the flow of a design, the stitching order, push pull distortion, the fabric type and their own artistic interpretation of the subject matter.

Version 1.3 10000 has updates on the Janome Global site, link to download index Digitizer 10000 v2
and Digitiser 100000 v2 service pack 1.
You can tell your computer store that just because you can copy and paste in another application it doesn't make it a software issue. The resources needed to copy and paste in one application can be much lower than those needed in another application, so it could be computer resources. What operating system are using, how large is your RAM memory, not your hard drive. How robust is your graphics card, these all determine whether you can use the copy and paste in a graphics based program or not.

I am having the same problem right now. It happened after I updated to V 2.1. I have removed a lot of files form my computer to make more space, but it did not help. My RAM is the highest I can get it on my machine. My graphics card can handle all the websites I come accross, and youtube. What am I missing?

I have digitizer 10000 upgraded to digitiser pro. When I try to open " easy design "or "easy edit" from desktop I get the access violation code. I was advised by a Janome representative to download the latest update and service pack but halfway through installation it was blocked. Any ideas on what to do to fix this problem? I haven't as yet reformatted my computer. Glendora

glendora:

Instead of downloading the update from the USA Janome website go to the Global website. I was unable to download it from the Janome USA website when it first came out and had to download it from the Global. I do not know why but my Internet Explorer kept kicking in. but when I did it from Global it worked. Sometimes these computers have glitches.

Also If you have Windows 7 or Xp after you download and your Icons are on your desktop. try right clicking the easy design icon you should get a menu showing a troubleshoot option and click on that . When I loaded my software in Windows 7 I had to do that to update the drivers. Then I put in my dongle and the program took. It might be worth a try.
