Have you tried to shut the machine off wait a little while and then re-start. Some times the sensor gets stuck. Also take it apart and clean the bobbin area sometimes there is a small piece of thread that can get lodged. If that does not work a trip to your dealer is probably your best bet.

Remove the needle and try it again perhaps your needle is not in correctly. If this does not work please take it to your dealer, you do not want to damage your bobbin case.

I have the Janome MC12000, and because of a power serge my machine stopped working and gave me the same error. I turned off the machine and turned it back on, and I also got that dreadful noise!! Took it into Janome Canada, and it ended up they had to replace the step motor and chip in my only a few month old machine!! I'm terrified to use it now!!

Do you keep your machine plugged in all the time? I do not use a power strip as some do and I unplug the machine all the time. I also do not keep my other machines plugged in or on a power strip. I am not sure if that will help. Living in Canada does this happen all the time or only during a storm?

Mom, Point of interest. I used to live in the Ottawa, Ontario area. Lots of thunder storms and lots of outages because I lived in a wooded area (tree limbs would fall on lines etc). Never had a problem with my machine. When I got all the special wiring installed so that I could use a generator in the case of a long outage, the electrician flipped the switch to test it and the surge fried my PC, VCR and 2 clock radios. The TV and Janome were fine. I always switch off my machine when I am not using it but never bothered to unplug.

I live in Saskatchewan - the best place in the world, just cold in the winter. We don't have many power outages and I never unplug anything, Sewing machines, TV, VCR, DVD, and so far nothing has been affected. I do use a power bar for my machines as I have so many things plugged into the same outlet, even my iron. The only problem we have is occasionally I have the iron on and someone microwaves something and the breaker blows. It is an inconvenience but that is all. I sometimes notice that the lights dim but again nothing has gone wrong with any of our appliances. Hope that nothing ever does.

Hi Jacquie and Cheryl: You both know I live in flroida (Ocala the lightening capital of the world. it is called) and I learned to upplug all the time. We do not dare use our computers at all. When we first moved here everytime it rained we lost power. so that is why I mentioned about the power surge. Thanks for the comments.

Chelseachico, I can't help thinking your machine problem occuring when it did was a coincidence. Your machine is protected by a fuse which will blow the momnt there is a sudden vicious power spike. A power surge large enough to blast your machine would have blasted just about every electrical appliance you had plugged in. Read Devil cats response, and recently Jim Stutsman informed his group, for a power surge to have damaged a members machine, it would have left scorch marks on her walls.
Servo motors can fail no matter how young, and chips fail for no reason, I dont know the house wiring regulations in the USA but I wouldnt mind betting you have a mains fuse and then individual circuit fuses and circuit breakers. All those will fail long before it could reach your machine.

I'm an advocate for a back up power supply. It's very difficult for a "power surge" to be the culprit. As mentioned, fuses are by design going to take that hit and remove your equipment from the line. Any time a piece of equipment is rapidly turned on and off, which is a good possibility in a storm, there is a real danger of damage. Rarely a surge, just rapid off and on sequencing of power usually. I'd venture to say that if you flipped your switch on and off fast a few times, you'd probably be taking it to the dealer. The "UPS" will provide an opportunity to get your machine turned off when using it so a power failure (rapid on and off as the utility attempts to restore power) won't harm it. These machines are not protected well enough to be on house power without the extra protection of a UPS.... That's my strong opinion and your mileage may vary.

That happened to me also. It cost $500.00 as the main board went out....
