Has anyone tried other brands of sewing machine needles? If so, how is the price compared to Janome? If there are other brands that work, what is the brand name and where on line can you purchased them?

Organ needles make the Janome brand. The #14 Organ is the equivalent to the Janome red tip needle. You can buy these on line or sometimes at a dealer. I have also used Schmetz and Klasse. Singer's are not built for use in Janomes. If you google Organ needles, you will find a site.

I use Schmetz needles as well. I have been told they are a stronger needle.

Ladies, this is the "Felting Machine" portion of the Forum. If the lady asking the first question was for the felting machine, I strongly recommend that you use the needles that a Janome dealer would have for the felting machine. There are a couple of types, one that has the needles that come out and can be replaced one at a time or the 5 needle, which can be used until all the needles are broken. You don't need all 5 to felt. I took a class where the instructor recommended only using the one needle as you have better control of the machine. Worked fine for me that day.
