Hi, we are going to have a family wedding in June in Georgia, USA. It will be in a garden venue in the early evening. My new daughter in law to be would like my 4 granddaughters to be in complementary dresses. They are ages 18 months to 6. I can't learn to smock before then...any one have a pattern idea and fabric source. I live in a small town in texas and will probably have to order material on line. We are thinking about pastels. Any one have ideas or help?? Thanks!
Simple, non-fussy sundresses. No buttons, no zippers. Just make a wide band (this can be closed with hooks and eyes) and gather fabric onto this for the skirt, a couple of wide straps and you are done. If you buy some eyelet fabric in 100% cotton, they will be cool, comfortable and really pretty. This fabric comes in several colours, both pastels and strong colours. It embroiders beautifully if you want to do some designs on it.
I think it is also know as Broiderie Anglaise in Europe.

Oliver and s have some really lovely dress patterns that will suit all the girls ages. I know their bubble dress is a favorite but it only goes to a size five. They have one that is summery and fun and really simple to put together called the seashore dress. The only issue you may have is the fact that the pattern doesn't have all the sizes in the one pattern so you'd need two copies. Nevertheless they are pretty and practical for summer, can be dressed up or down using what ever fabric you decide. Silk is always pretty for a wedding but you could also go for a voile to keep it light.
Hope this helps.
