Hello, was recently given a great little overlocker, a Janome MyLock 203 but believe it may be missing a small part that I hope somebody can clear up for me please ?

On top of the upper looper shaft there sits a small coiled spring (upper looper thread guide ) with a hooked end which guides the thread.

However, there is nothing that secures this spring onto the shaft and looks like it could easily be dislodged. The shaft appears to have an internal thread so I guess the spring may have had some type of cap/screw on it to hold it in place ?

Hoping someone may have some info on this or maybe a parts list diagram etc?

Thanks so much,

George

The thread guide does not screw onto the looper or shaft. There is only 1 way it can slide on since it has a flat spot that slides onto the flat spot of the looper shaft.

Unless the spring is worn, it doesn't really fall out easily at all.

The threads you see is for a set screw that holds the looper position in place.

Hi,

Thanks so much for the quick and detailed reply, it helped to clear up my concerns. Somehow it got dislodged during my learning to use the overlocker (fumble fingers me ) so I thought I had broken something off

Appreciate your help.

Cheers, George
