Well, I have decided I really like this machine despite the crappy manual. It is so smooth and the automatic thread snipping is a treat. However, I am not having much success with the needle threader. The first time I did it, it worked fine. Subsequent to that, the thread does not stay taut. I can keep pulling until the whole spool of thread is unwound!! So I am doing it the old low tech. way. Baffled. Is there a trick to this?
As you ladies have come through on everyelse, I assume you can help me again.
BTW. I just made a discovery. A couple of days ago, I brought up a design from a USB stick and was ready to start embroidering when I was called away. I removed the stick and switched off the machine. When I went back to the machine today, it was still there ready for me to stitch even without the stick in the machine. This is the ultimate resume mode. How cool is that!!

Jacquie, You need to hold the thread with your other hand while threading to keep it taut. I'm not totally in love with this threading mechanism but one treat is that is stays in the needle without my having to hold the lever down.
You discovered the way the machine still has the design in the memory IF you haven't selected another. The MC11000 did that too and it is a treat, when you want to use it again and the USB is elsewhere.
Jacquie, the USB sticks can be purchased from memory suppliers too as smaller capacity. Years ago I ordered 5 that were 256 - don't know if they are faster or not. USB's in my experience are generally slower that the PC Cards, but the cards aren't used as much for anything anymore so I guess that progress for you.

Thanks Cheryl. I think I need 3 hands for this "automatic" needle threader. How can you hold both ends of the thread and push up the lever at the same time?
I picked up a 2 GB USB stick at Staples for $7.99. It was the smallest I could find and it was the only one on the shelf!! I think I shall contact Memorysuppliers. These people should pay me commision as I was the person who first posted about them on this Forum. I was buying small memory flash cards. I really wish I could use the cards with my reader/writer on my 12000. Digimad suggested this but when I asked the dealer, they said no. I really don't see why it wouldn't work. All logic says it should. However, I am not going to chance it and scramble the innards of the machine.

Jacquie:
Bring your presser foot down as well as your needle threader Hold your thread like Cheryl said and you will see a little loop to the back of the needle. hold that loop and raise the presser foot and it will release the thread. If you do not put your presser foot down the thread is too loose to hold and put through the needle hole.
I love this needle threader so much better than the 11,000. My 11,000 never worked right.
