I love my 6600 but have continuing problem when doing zig zag stitch, especially on knit fabric. The thread will shred, pop outof the guide just above the needle. I have changed thread, needle, rethreaded many times and problem continues.
Machine was serviced in July and problem pointed out to dealer but apparently not fixed.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Are you using a stretch needle? If so and the thread still keeps breaking, take it back to your dealer with a sample of what is happening. Obviously something was missed in the servicing of the machine because what you describe shouldn't happen.

Check with your dealer for warranty on work done. My service technician guarantees his work for one year.

Thank you. I am planning to take back to dealer but just thought I would see if there was something I might be missing.
I have tried stretch needle, embroidery needle, microtex. I routinely use Schmetz and am very diligent about changing needles after each project.
Thanks for your response.

I have a Janome Memory Craft 4800 and it's doing the same thing as yours when I use the zig-zag stitch. I've tried everything you have. Needle, tension, rethreading, presser foot. I'm sewing fleece and need the zig-zag for stretchability. Did you ever figure out the problem? Would love to know.

Try using some stabilizer on a sample. If it sews better then you might need to invest in a bit of tear away stabilizer for stitching fleece or tissue paper, but paper will dull your needles faster. If it still doesn't work take the machine in for servicing but take a sample of your botched work so that the technician can check it out.

No one has mentioned what brand of thread they are using-if it's Coats and Clark, the shreadding is caused by the wrapped feature of this thread because the smallest needle you can use with their thread is a 14. Fleece really needs a stretch/ball point needle though because it's a knit.
