I have a couple of strange icons on my computer screen. One looks like the port for a USB stick with JSMC859Inst written underneath it. If I click on this, it says Welcom to Device Driver Installation Wizard. I have no idea what this is. Can anybody tell me? I have Windows 7.
The other is the update to v. 101. I got this from the Janome web site and put this on a USB stick and tried to update my machine. I followed the instructions exactly but nothing happened! I checked the stick and the update is there.
I understand that there is another update coming in July and would like to get the first one onto the machine prior to the release of the second one.
Anyone know what either of these two is supposed to do?

That is your installer for either your Horizon Link or your machine. I will have to check that for you Jacquie. I have it on my desktop but I cannot remember which it is for. Let me check that for you. I will E-mail you at your E-mail address.

I used to have that link on my desktop too but it isn't there now. Jacquie it isn't anything to worry about. If you have icons that you don't know, make a folder and pop them into it - I'm sure the computer will find them when they are needed and then you can reduce the number that show up.

The JSM icon is the installation for HL. MOM told me how to figure this out. Nice to know and feeling the way I do about HL, it will be completely ignored.
I am going to do a bit more investigating about the two (?) updates to the 12000. I still wish I knew why I cannot get the first one into my machine. No idea what it is supposed to do anyway.

If I remember correctly, it allows for design transfer more easily from your favourite HL and also a few more designs. The thread cutting and the enablement of the speed dial for embroidery or something like that. There were a few things that we had on the 1100 that were omitted on the 12000 and they gave them back. If you don't miss them Jacquie, don't worry until you get to the dealer to fix it for you.
I don't have the JSM or whatever icon showing on my desktop and I can still load the program so I don't know what that means, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it anyway.

It was the update installer for the HL Cheryl. I just moved it to a folder and put i9t in a file. Like you said if the computer needs it it will look for it. Remember before the update we could not write to a USB from HL?

Yes MOM, I do remember - thanks for refreshing my memory. Isn't it funny how we can forget those little things when asked.
