luvbug0827 Posts: 23 Joined: 04/09/2012	Hi! I'm just starting out with all this sewing stuff I'm trying to make a pattern from a shirt my daughter has. It seems like it would be very simple to make, front bodice just attached to a gathered section with a rufflle on the bottom and wide straps at the top, easy. So I took measurements and traced each piece, then added a seam allowance. Here's where I'm not sure what to do. on the back bodice there are two buttons, would I just make it longer to accomodate where the fabric needs to fold over for the button holes? Or would it be two separate pieces for the back bodice?

digimad Posts: 3718 Joined: 08/30/2007	Just extend the top by about 2 or 3 inches, depending on the size of the button hole have the centre back seam of the skirt overlap by the same margin. Then cut your backbodice on the selvedge edge of your fabric and the front bodice on the fold. cut the skirt piece placed on the fold with the centre back seam on the selvedge side, the ruffle needs to be twice the width of the skirt. ------------------------- digimad Edited: 05/28/2012 at 08:48 AM by digimad
