I tried to do a zigzag on my sewing machine and it started to stitch all weird like. almost like the top was on the bottom and bottom was on top. I played around with other stitches and they all were the same.
I then went back to straight stitch and now the machine is doing the above and the top thread is really loose.

I have tried to adjust the tension and it just seems to make it worse.

Ive tried to change the needle and thread but it doesnt make a difference.

Does the machine need to be looked at or is there something else i can try?
machine servicing here is really expensive. Often cheaper to buy a new sewing machine.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like a threading problem. Check your bobbin and rethread. Also take clean, unwaxed dental floss and run it through you tension disks, you may have bits of thread in them. Don't mess with the tension on your bobbin, that can be a real problem if you screw it up.

I would be interested if that solved the problem as I have the same problem today...yesterday it was fine...today, reverse stitching!
