Cutting Instructions:

  1. Omit pattern piece #5 when cutting out the pattern pieces for View A.
  2. Cut out the bib and top ruffle out of Contrast Fabric A.
  3. Cut out the bottom ruffle out of Contrast Fabric C.
  4. From Contrast Fabric B:
    1. Cut one 1 1/2" x WOF strip.
    2. Cut out waist and tie patterns.
    3. Cut 1" bias from the remaining Contrast Fabric B. Refer to the following link on how to cut bias.

Sewing Instructions:

  1. Set up the 1110DX Pro serger for a 4-thread overlock seam.
  2. Right sides together (RST), align the edge of the 1 1/2" fabric strip (Fabric B) with one side of the apron bib. Align the edge of fabrics with the blade and serge them together.
  3. Using the rotary cutter, neatly cut off a 1 1/2" strip to line up with the top of the bib.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for the top and opposite side of the bib.
  5. Set up 1110DX Pro serger for a rolled hem.
  6. If necessary, use the seam sealant on any of the corners or ends of the seams to secure the rolled hem.
  7. Once you've completed your bias tape, align one edge of the tape against the blade on the serger. Serge the entire length.
  8. Locate the back tie pieces. Sew a rolled hem around all three sides of the tie, leaving the end that attaches to the apron unsewn. Repeat for the second tie.
  9. Locate the ties that go around the shoulders and neck. Fold them in half lengthwise and press.
  10. Starting at one end of the tie, sew a rolled hem along the raw edge of both ties, including the diagonal end of the tie.
  11. Returning to the bib, starting at the bottom corner of the bib, sew a rolled hem along the edges of the contrasting trim (Fabric B), finishing the top and sides.
  12. Return the serger to a 4-thread overlock stitch.
  13. For the top ruffle (Fabric A) on the apron skirt, align the raw edge of the bias to the hemline of the ruffle.
  14. Align the edge of fabrics against the blade and serge the bias to the ruffle.
  15. Repeat step #14 to finish the edge of the bottom ruffle (Fabric C).
  16. Thread the sewing machine with all purpose thread. Attach Zig-Zag Foot A.
  17. Refer to pattern instructions on attaching the back ties to the front waistband of the apron.
  18. Refer to pattern instructions on attaching the waistband to the skirt ruffles, remembering that the top ruffle has been omitted.
  19. Finish the seams with the 4-thread overlock stitch.
  20. Refer to pattern pieces to mark placement of where the bib attaches to the waistband.
  21. Sew the waistband to the bib.
  22. Finish seam with the serger.
  23. Press both sides of the waistband seams toward the waistband.
  24. Place under the Zig-Zag Foot, aligning the fold with the edge of the foot. Top stitch the seams down on both the top and bottom of the waistband.
  25. Refer to the pattern pieces to mark the placement of the neck ties.
  26. Top stitch the ties to the top seam of the bib.
