  • Embroidered Shoes Made with the Skyline S9

    3/7/2017

Made with a Cactus Lou Box Top Hack

"Since I've gotten the honor of keeping the Janome Skyline S9 machine for the year, I've done a little more experimenting with the capabilities of this machine. I've been loving the built-in embroidery designs, but was ready to test out the USB feature and open myself up to the world of online embroidery designs. When I was thinking about a spring project, I was trying to think of what my wardrobe needed and how I could use the Skyline S9 to elevate my closet addition.

When the seasons start changing, the first thing I realize I'm missing is a proper pair of shoes to transition to warmer weather. I go from a closet full of boots and heavy socks, right into sandals. I usually need a pair of footwear that will cover my toes, but are fun and light to walk around in. Footwear is not something I can make. As much as I wish I could, shoes are not yet in my handmade wheelhouse. That is when I thought a simple pair of white sneakers could become something so much more." - Janome Maker Trish McLaughlin of Trish Stitched

  • Up-cycle Easter Outfit & Basket Liner

    3/3/2017

    By Milinda Stephenson

“I love combining thrift stores for men’s dress shirts in fine fabrics. This week, I found this fabulous Lacoste shirt that was begging to be remade into an Easter basket liner and outfit for my grandbaby. If you’ve never used a steam-activated shrinking interfacing, like Pellon Fabric Magic, this project is for you. Steam activated fabric (available under several different brand names) gave my bunny applique just the right texture!” Janome Maker Milinda Stephenson of Milinda Sews

Milind made both projects with the Janome Horizon Memory Craft 15000Click here for the free bunny applique download and instructions for creating texturized fabric. Make this project for this upcoming Easter!

In addition, Nancy used a shell tuck hem on a back-to-school outfit for her granddaughter during Summer 2015, you can find her instructions in the tutorial she created.

Slow Stitching Meets the Janome Skyline S9

“Late spring last year, I got this crazy idea that I would learn how to sit still and hand stitch. With a very busy schedule, hand stitching isn’t particularly convenient, but that is precisely why I fell in love with it. Now, I spend a few hours a week practicing my slow stitching and share this love with all of the friends that will listen.

When the Janome Skyline S9 became available, I jumped for joy because some of the built-in embroidery designs are Sashiko! I have been working on this project for many months on and off. I hope you stick around as I take you on a Sashiko tour of the built-in designs on the Skyline S9.

My featured panel project combines my love for Sashiko hand stitching and machine embroidery. It is not everyday that your embroidery machine complements your favorite technique so well. I plan to use my panels to create a queen size quilt and matching pillow.” Janome Maker Maday Delgado of Free Spirit Designs by Maday
